Confident Body, Confident Child is an evidence-based resource for parents of children aged 2 to 6 years old. CCBC is comprised of an education program and a information-filled website. Both the parenting program and the webite offer parenting strategies to promote positive body image, healthy eating, and physical activity in children. The resource guides parents to help their children develop body satisfaction and healthy eating patterns. It is valuable for older children, even though it is created for the younger child.
Confident Body, Confident Child was developed by a team of researchers from the School of Psychology and Public Health at La Trobe University, Australia from the best available research, studies, and parent resources. The team conducted a consensus study with a group of experts to find the safest and most reliable strategies parents can use with their young children to help prevent body dissatisfaction, eating disorders, and obesity. They held interviews and focus groups with parents of 2- to 6-year-olds, children's nurses, and child care centers -- to understand what parents would like to learn and what they need in order to raise children with body confidence and healthy eating patterns.
